Permanent Installation, Baker-Butler Elementary School Charlottesville, VA
Wooden Dowels, Plastic Tubing, Steel Hoops
3’ diameter x 18’ high
2004
The flexible modular system developed and deployed in Transformer 1 and Brass Screen, is reconfigured here to create a hanging basket-like centerpiece for the Baker-Butler Elementary School’s double height entry space.
The sculpture’s creation was expanded into a participatory curriculum for students in grades 2 through 5. Students interacted with the artist and helped construct modules that went into the making of the final piece.
